Human Doing: Can Childhood Trauma Cause Someone To Become A Human Doing?

In today’s world, if someone is practically always on the go, it is not going to be difficult for them to find people who believe that they are living in the right way. One can be seen as someone who is taking life by the horns, as opposed to waiting around for things to happen.

If one was to step back and to reflect on their behaviour, they could see themselves as someone who is making the most of the life that they have been given. So, as they are not going to live forever, the best thing will be for them to do what they need to do.

From the moment they wake up, then, until the moment they go to bed, they can be on the go. This is not to say that they will do the same things every day, though, as they could have a number of different routines.

Their whole life can be structured and they may have plans in place for months, if not years, in advance. Thus, they are not going to be at school, but each day will be just as structured.

One Purpose

What is clear is that very little, if anything, in their life is going to be random; just about everything will be done for a reason. Not just any reason, however, a reason that they will have probably thought through well ahead of time.

Most of the steps that they take are likely to be part of what will allow them to fulfil a certain goal. From the outside, they will look like a human being, but when it comes to their behaviour, they will be like a well-programmed machine.

No Time to Relax

If ever they were to go on holiday, for instance, this is unlikely to be a time when they will truly relax. And, even if they tried to relax, they could find it is simply not possible for them to do so.

Instead of going away to actually relax, this can be seen as a time that can be used to learn and to achieve things that they wouldn’t otherwise achieve. Going away will give them a change of scenario and get them away from their usual routine, yet it is unlikely to give them a real break.

If they were to do other things to de-stress such as to meditate, this might not do much for them. This could even be seen as a time when they can achieve something as opposed to just letting go and being.

To fully embrace something like this, they will need to be able to be, or at the very least to have this intention, but this could be the last thing that is on their mind. Therefore, this could be another thing that they do to give them an edge and to thereby, be more successful.

External Feedback

When it comes to success, there is the chance that a lot of people will see them as having ‘made it’. One might tick all the boxes, meaning they could have a large home, a flashy car, a glamorous partner, plenty of money in the bank, and an enviable figure.

Or, they could just tick a few of these boxes and be very close to ticking a few more. Thanks to how a lot of people treat them, this could be seen as yet more evidence that they are living their life in the right way.

Their Power Source

As to why they are able to act like a well-programmed machine, it is likely to be because they have a very strong will. This can be what is generally driving their behaviour, not their feelings.

Ergo, it will be the fuel that their mind creates, not their body that will keep them going and drive them forward. They might not even have a strong connection with their body and the feelings that are located there.

What’s going on?

Although one will be a human being, they are going to be behaving more like a human doing. Considering this, while behaving in this way will be seen as normal in their society, it is likely to illustrate that something isn’t right.

One way to look at one’s behaviour would be to say that this is a way for them to avoid how they feel. Always being on the go and not resting, as positive and healthy as this can appear to be, is a way for them to stop themselves from coming into contact with what is taking place in their body.

An Unconscious Process

Still, this is unlikely to be something that they are consciously aware off; if they were aware of what is going on, this defence wouldn’t work. By keeping busy and not being, they will be able to stay out of their body and to live on the surface of themselves, which will make it easier for them to keep their deep pain at bay.

If they were to be still and to just be, they could become aware of a sense of angst and discomfort. Underneath this layer could be shame, helplessness, hopelessness, powerlessness, worthlessness, terror, rage and a feeling of imminent death.

Way Back

What this can show is that their early years were deeply traumatic, with this being a time when they were abused and/or neglected on a weekly, if not daily, basis. A time when they should have received what they needed in order to grow and develop would have been a time when their main priority was to survive.

As they were unable to run away or to fight back at this stage of their life, their only option would have been to freeze up and to leave their body. Many, many years will have passed since this stage of their life, yet they will still be carrying most, if not all, of this trauma, and still be stuck in survival mode, and consequently, will have unknowingly been doing everything that they can to run away from themselves.

If one can relate to this, and they are ready to change their life, they may need to reach out for external support. This is something that can be provided by the assistance of a therapist or healer.
